Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji may be considered the foremost spiritual leader that the Sangat of Singapore and Malaysia has known. He is also credited for planting the seed of Sikhi in the UK by sending Baba Naurang Singh to do sewa there (Soho Rd Gurdwara).

This thesis by Lalit Kundani, an attorney working in Los Angeles, expounds on the legal, historical, and social dimensions of the Sikh kirpan in America, and focuses on the 1993 case of Cheema v. Thompson, where a California federal court upheld three Sikh siblings' right to wear their kirpan to school. The thesis received highest honors by the faculty of Political Science at UCLA.
